FIT5149: Applied Data Analysis

Postgraduate Course (Tutor), Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University, 2026

Served as a Teaching Assistant (Tutor) for this core postgraduate unit, which equips future data scientists and business analysts with advanced analytical and data modeling skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tutorial Instruction: Conducted weekly hands-on tutorial sessions, guiding master’s students through the practical implementation of established and contemporary Machine Learning techniques using Python/R.
  • Algorithm Guidance: Facilitated students’ understanding of core machine learning and statistical algorithms, including advanced regression, classification, and clustering techniques.
  • Theoretical Support: Helped students bridge the gap between applied data analysis and basic modeling theory, focusing on model selection, hyperparameter tuning, and algorithm suitability.
  • Result Interpretation: Mentored students on how to critically interpret analytical results, evaluate model performance, and communicate data-driven insights effectively.
